What I love about being a PPC Manager

It’s the second half of the year already and what a roller-coaster it has been over the last six months. For many people working in PPC, with Google and other ad platforms swarming up with updates, the months of May and June were particularly interesting and somewhat troubling, to say the least. But it is easy to get caught up in all the updates and changes from big tech and lose sight of the many things we love as PPCers. I mean, it’s not that bad. Conversions are STILL rolling in and there is a lot of potential to keep ROAS positive. And this underscores the crucial role we play as PPCers, working to connect businesses with the customers who love them and need their products. So apart from being the cool guys businesses look up to bring in steady conversions, what else is there to love about working in PPC? I’ve outlined a few of mine, hopefully it keeps you inspired.

1. PPC is Measurable and Data-Driven

Of all that there is to love, and not to love about PPC, this has to be my absolute favorite. The fact that I can measure my target audience’s interaction with my ad at every stage of the buying process is something that gets me excited every time. I can know if they viewed my ad, and when they did; how well they loved it or not; and most importantly how much my ad convinced them to buy my product. I truly enjoy how the vast amount of data available to me as a PPC manager helps me make better decisions on my campaigns.

2. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting

As someone who loves to binge-watch crime TV series, the fact that I’m always trying to figure something out at work, makes me love my job and career more as a PPC Manager. From investigating CPA rises to understanding why my tracking is well setup but I am not seeing conversions on my dashboard, yuck! I enjoy not having every campaign figured out, because it gives me a sense of purpose and something to look forward to everyday.

3. I’m in control of my own destiny (and that of my employer’s).

Yes, PPC gives me that Thanos-like feeling. I am able to help businesses scale and eventually predict their revenue streams. I consider this a privileged position to be in, considering how many marketers hide under the cloak of “marketing is not only sales and revenue driven. There’s brand awareness too.”  PPC makes me feel like my own superhero. And beyond that, I get to be my employers’ superhero too.

4. PPC gives every brand a chance.

It levels the playing field. Unlike other aspects of digital marketing such as SEO, social media, the ways and workings of PPC make it possible for newcomer and long ad-serving brands and campaigns to thrive. There are no domain authority (SEO) or follower count metrics (as in social media) to leverage. Each campaign is given the chance to prove it’s worth to the audience and slug it out with long-serving ads/campaigns.

5. Network and Community

Yes, if you’ve been doing PPC for a while you’d agree that the community is one that is quite warm and supportive. From beautiful evening meetups to helpful conversations on WhatsApp and slack at PPC.Live, you can’t deny the power and strength of the PPC community. It’s such a relief to know that there’s several people on earth who can relate deeply with the highs and lows of your work. It even gets better when you realize how helpful they are. If you’re a PPC expert, newbie or maybe just an enthusiast looking to connect with others in the industry, take this as my personal invitation to you.
