How long have you been working in PPC?

I’ve been working in PPC for 17 years, wow how time flies.

If you went to college, what did you study? If not college, do you have any other degrees or certifications?

I have a digital marketing certificate and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing (which I completed in 2020).

What was your first job that involved PPC?

I started out with content creation and kind of stumbled into a job at a small Google Ads agency. Initially, I was just there to write ads, sort keywords, and create campaigns for very small budgets – and when I say small, I mean €300 a month or less.

What kinds of things do you currently handle or manage in PPC?

I’m glad I never gave up on PPC over the years, despite my hybrid nature. I’m responsible for the PPC strategy, or rather the overall Demand Gen strategy, which includes paid social campaigns as well as Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. Since I’ve never been good at just being strategic and delegating, I manage Tresorit’s DACH campaigns operationally with a lot of love and passion.

What are you most proud of in your PPC career?

It’s been a few years now. I had once again gone back to agency life from an in-house role, and I had this client with multiple online shops. He was worried because the shops weren’t doing very well, and he’d had really bad experiences with agencies in the past.

It was a real challenge, but I cleaned up his online shops, worked on all those lovely shopping feeds, created shopping campaigns, and search campaigns for specific items. It was a mammoth project! On the side, I also cleaned up and built up the SEO side of the shops, wrote new product texts, and pushed for better images, not just the marketplace ones, etc.

I was very proud when he told me I had saved his ass, and that they never had so much turnover not in the last 15 years.

If you could give advice to someone either considering or just starting out in PPC, what would that be?

Embrace the ‘Always Be Learning’ mindset – PPC is a dynamic world! Never stop exploring new strategies, testing different approaches, and diving deep into the data. It’s this constant evolution and optimisation that makes PPC so rewarding.

So, stay curious, stay analytical, and most importantly, stay passionate about the endless possibilities.

Will we see you speaking at any conferecnes or webinars? Please list them below.

This year I’m speaking at BrightonSEO in April – I’m really looking forward to it! Fun fact: this year it’s an SEO topic, the other two times were PPC related.
